Job Description.

PhAST is seeking a talented and driven data scientist to join its data analysis team to analyze the large set of antibiotic susceptibility test data produced with its proprietary diagnostic platform using clinical samples, and distill these into an automated diagnostic model.

Major tasks and responsibilities include:

*Analyzing large, unbalanced datasets of clinical experiments to refine and validate susceptibility models for the hospital setting.

  • Developing robust test statistics/estimators of antibiotic effectiveness based on PhAST’s rich panel of biomarkers.
  • Optimizing inference methods for cost- and time- conscious product implementation. This position will include collaborative work with the current PhAST data analysis team as well as independent projects. As a member of a small, dedicated team within PhAST, this position will have the opportunity to significantly influence the rapid growth of the company.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

*PhD in statistics, physics, engineering, or data sciences with strong data analysis expertise.

  • Significant experience in statistical inference and multivariate analysis.
  • Strong computational abilities for data analysis (e.g., Python, C++, Julia, or similar).
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Motivation to work in a fast-paced startup environment, with frequent product- development oriented deadlines.
  • Team spirit to work in collaboration with international data generation, software, and product development teams.
  • Prior research experience in the life sciences or biotechnology is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Amazon Web Services is a plus.
