Simply use wood instead of petrol
Today, most commodity products contain a substantial amount of crude-oil. Yet, the marketplace demands, increasingly dictated by legislators, are to replace the feedstock by sustainable alternatives. Renewable solutions are likely to come from the only two largest sources of renewable carbon: atmospheric CO2 and plants. However, technologies to convert CO2 are still far from practical, while the lack of cost-competitive solutions has constrained the implementation of plant-based products. We recently developed and patented a disruptive technology able to valorize "lignin", an unexploited constituent of plants and the largest natural source of aromatic molecules, a major building block of industrial products, such as adhesives, thermoplastics or food additives. Potential customers in the chemical industry are thrilled by our technology, since it represents an 10 fold increase in lignin extraction and could double the commercial value of plant material. For the first time, we are able to extract, without additional cost, the maximal potential of plant material and jumpstart the green revolution in the field.
