Platform to monitor personal electricity consumption and its ecological impact
Energy saving has become something people think about more but for many this means turning off the lights when they don't need it even though this just contributes to a tiny fraction of electricity consumption. Average people are not aware how different household appliances have hundredfold consumption rates relative to each other and miss the opportunity to meaningfully change their behavior. Also just looking at the consumption in Watt is not representing the ecological impact nor the cost for a household. Prices normally depend on the time of consumption but with the transition to renewable energy these legacy price models are not correlating anymore with the production cost. We try to overcome these problems with easy to use monitoring devices to clip on power cables that send real-time information to your smartphone about your consumption. At the same time the current energy market is observed and the information is brought to you whether renewable energy is produced in abundance or if backup systems are running to supply the market so the consumer can choose a smart time to charge its vehicle, run the dishwasher and put off the vacuum cleaning to some other day.
